Plastic Burettes
At Plastech, we have a range of durable, high-quality interchangeable plastic burettes in standard stock designs and custom configurations that are suitable for various lab applications.
Each graduated burette is designed for maximum accuracy, durability, and transparency and is available in phenol-A free Propionate, Polyethylene Terephthalate Glycol (PETG), or Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC).
Our medical packaging supplies and labware products are produced at our manufacturing facilities in Glasgow, Scotland. We also manufacture manometer tubes as part of our Medical Tubes range and a wide range of Medical Grade Packaging and Plastic Injection Moulded Medical Components.
Plastech has been supplying specialised plastic medical tubes to the medical device industry for 50+ years and has successfully partnered with medical device companies all around the world. We are a leading supplier of printed co-extruded plastic burette tubes for intravenous infusion sets, which means you are guaranteed durable medical burettes designed for accuracy.

Infusion Set Burette Tubes
Plastech has developed a burette range for intravenous infusion sets in three interchangeable materials designed to suit your specific requirements and graduations. The graduations on each burette are printed to your exact specifications.
Attached to an interchangeable spring-loaded polypropylene clamp, PTFE stopcock, plug, or rods, our burettes also make excellent labware that offers precision, accuracy, and consistency.
Our standard burette cylinders come in 100ml and 150ml sizes.
Workings of the Euro Burette
A medical burette consists of a vented spike with a protective cap and a long plastic tube marked with graduations. The most common graduations are known as Schellbach stripes.
The burette has roller clamps at its proximal and distal end and the chamber is top-covered with a hanging loop, a bacteria retention air inlet, and an injection port. In the burette’s base is a floating valve as well as a flexible drip chamber below with a filter in its base. The burette’s distal tube contains a Y-site providing an administration port for medication.
Intended Use & Indications
The Euro Burette is for surgically invasive short-term use delivering IV fluids such as antibiotics at a fixed rate over a given period of time using gravity and a pressure pump method. The vented spike is inserted into the solution container and the clamp above the burette is opened and allows for it to be filled to the required volume. The clamp is then closed and the chamber is filled with the IV solution and the hanging loop is primed. It is common for the chamber to be squeezed, allowing the solution to flow through it and displace any air upwards. The fluid flow is regulated using the burette’s lower clamp.
Intended Patient Population
The Euro Burette is typically used in the medical sector for paediatric patients and patients who need a specific amount of medication and have veins that are too weak for a normal infusion. This device can be used on both male and female patients between the ages of 6–65+ years, children between the ages of 2–5 years, and infants less than 23 months old.
Plastech only supplies burette chambers. These are not supplied with self-lubricating PTFE plug stopcocks, clamps, rods, tapered wedges, or any other components.

Standard & Custom Burette Tubes
Ready Made
Our standard range of volumetric burettes are designed and calibrated according to universal specifications. Depending on the plastic material you choose for your burettes, you can order a burette that will be unaffected by dilute mineral acids and bases (except hydrofluoric acid, ammonium hydroxide & similar acids).
While glass burettes often require a plastic sheathing, which increases resistance to breaking and protects it from splintering, our standard burette range is constructed of a damage-resistant plastic material. These burettes work well with a range of ABS end connector caps and accessories such as stoppers are interchangeable with these tubes.
Customised
We can extrude burettes that meet your exact requirements. Whether you need graduations in a specific colour (from white or red to blue or black markings), specialised packaging, or the branding of the laboratory on the packaging, our products are made to suit your needs.
A Plastic Burette in Every Size
Our standard cylinders come in two sizes, with a 50ml volume difference between the two: 100ml and 150ml. They are available with or without graduations. These sizes are more popular than 50ml tubes, as the higher capacity makes them more versatile. We manufacture according to the standard diameter sizes for the apparatus to fit well with an ABS end cap.
Our two sizes have a 50ml volume difference to cater for various needs, but we can also customise the sizing to your liquid volume requirements.
Wide Range of Applications
Our plastic burettes are used for a wide range of applications within a multitude of sectors. Our products are trusted by industry professionals in Scotland, England, and Europe.
In the standard sizes that we offer, they are generally used for patients who need small dosages — for example, paediatric, heart, prostate or kidney patients. In such cases, a burette with a PTFE stopcock plug is used to deliver a fixed volume of IV fluid at a fixed rate, sometimes with added medication. This allows accuracy in the fine control of fluid volumes and prevents inadvertent over-transfusion.
Platech’s burette medical devices are graduated plastic tubes that are used with a polypropylene valve or stopcock and spring-loaded clamp to deliver known volumes of liquid with high accuracy. Our burette chambers are compatible with most standard spring-loaded clamp and stopcock designs. They can also be used with standard rods and bases.
Medical Grade Plastics
Along with our PETG range, we also do standard PVC and Cellulose Propionate burettes. These are manufactured out of high-quality, industrial-strength plastic that can be used across a wide range of medical, pharmaceutical, and laboratory applications.
PETG is more shatter-resistant and cost-effective. And when compared with polypropylene, PETG can be produced to be more optically clear and transparent.
Using this with a stopcock made from polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) ensures that the stopcock supplies smooth transfer, high surface release, and nonstick properties.
Our tubes work well with a single clamp or double clamp made from polypropylene or other materials.
Damage-Resistant Plastic
Our products will stand up to the daily bumps and occasional drops that typically occur in labs, making them a safer, less expensive alternative for delicate lab work. You can eliminate the risks and costs associated with sharp edges and shattering glass by going for a damage resistant shatterproof PVC burette. They are crystal clear and can hold various types of liquid.
PETG (Polyethylene Terephthalate Glycol) is a thermoplastic that is known for its significant chemical resistance, durable nature, and formability for manufacturing. It is one of the most commonly used polymers and, like polypropylene, it is 100% recyclable.
